Two new tunes from Secret Archives of the Vatican

January 31, 2018

After a long period of unintentional musical inactivity, we’re partly back up and running. Hoorah!

Here are two tunes that we’ve recorded just to get us back in the zone.

The Fall of New Babylon
For the musicians among you, it’s at a dubsteppy 140bpm, it is a 7/8 rhythm called Dawr Hindi and the scale used is Maqam Shehnaz. It sounds great with headphones or through a hifi that can reproduce bass.

The Exile
This is at a drum’n’bassy 172bpm and it’s a 7/4 rhythm. Once again, it sounds great with headphones or through a hifi that can reproduce bass.

These two tracks are not part of an album release as such and aren’t necessarily where we’ll be going musically for our next recordings.

We will shortly be rebooting our plan for an album of collaborations. We have one or two things already in preparation from a good while back and we’ll be re-contacting some people who previously said they’d be up for collaborating.

In the meantime, we’ll probably release a short album of Secret Archives tunes. Do you have any suggestions for a theme or a title?

I’m so glad to have rediscovered this blog, subscribed now. Great, interesting music. Love the focus on non 4/4 and middle eastern scales combined with electronics and excellent production!

Let us know what you think of this post. Thanks!
