War on Terra – promoting our new release 1

October 7, 2012

You may recall we complained in a recent post: ‘It seems to be nigh on impossible to get reviews, even on netlabel and underground music blogs. Seems hard also to get plays in podcasts, although some top quality individuals we know are faithful and do promote our music. We need some way to get more attention. Will get our thinking caps on but, once again, any innovative ideas gratefully considered.’

Well, War on Terra was released yesterday and the campaign for free promotion has launched!

I initially took the path of least resistance – I posted about the release on Facebook, both on my own page, Broken Drum Records‘ group page and on Secret Archives of the Vatican‘s page. Some conversations duly ensued and this is good as it leads to more views by users as Facebook uses Edge Ranking to decide how many people see any given post.

Then I sent messages or emails to various people: likely MixCloud posters, previously receptive radio people and bloggers. I’ll let you know how I get on with that but so far I’ve had one promise of airplay and one organisation offering us an advertising deal (not a bad one, actually…). I’ll be continuing with the ruthless self-publicity campaign today!

Oh, and we’ve seen about 25 downloads so far and we’ve made about £25 so far. As ever, any money made is most likely to be used covering various online hosting charges or buying new tunes for our podcast.

    Dear Vince et al

Please keep the music coming ! It does make a difference. It can be really inspiring an up lifting. I shall purchase the new album, later to-day insh’allah.

    Best wishes

    Nasser
