Secret Archives news

May 11, 2010

A little while back we posted here about our options for our forthcoming release. The basic question was whether we should release a traditional paid download or a free download with a Creative Commons licence. Most of the people who commented said they thought we should go the netlabel free route. So we did.

We released The Glidepath EP on 1 May.

I don’t particularly want to give too much detail about our label’s sales and download numbers – but suffice it to say that we’ve had about the same number of downloads in one week as we’ve sold of our 2008 album Babylon Halt in two years, with an awful lot less effort and expense. OK, so we didn’t make any money – but a lot more people are hearing the music.

So, for the time being, we’ll be releasing our music netlabel stylee. The next EP should be in the next three or four weeks.
