Album Review – In Darkness (Various Artists)
We love the netlabel scene – excellent music, usually released free of charge, with no annoying copyright restrictions preventing you sharing top tunes with your friends. We particularly like labels such as Angel Dust Records because they release music in genres we like.
In Darkness is the eighth release from this not-for-profit, Creative Commons licensed netlabel. The label specialises in the bass-heavy end of the musical spectrum, encompassing dub, dubstep, breakbeat, drum and bass, hip-hop and all kinds of bass-oriented electronica.
There are four cracking tunes in this collection.
- Intelligent Delinquent – Escape Pod
- Southman – Wake Up
- Paranoid Breaks – Deadly Dubs
- DZZ – Nightmare
You can find details of the artists and their backgrounds HERE
You can also listen and download to the tracks on the same page – so there’s little point in me going into detail describing them! Suffice it to say, they are of the usual high quality – intelligent, strong, dark, post-dubstep electronica. Two British artists and two American artists show how the power of bass has crossed the world.
